Professional Knowledge

The standard of professional knowledge is to confirm that teachers are well educated in all content. Before entering the classroom teachers demonstrate this standard through education, state exams, and experience. This standard is important because a teacher needs to be well rounded in all content before they can teach that content to children.

To show content knowledge the state of Virginia requires teachers to pass state exams. By successful taking these exams I can demonstrate my knowledge  of all content. Below are scores for the Praxis I, Praxis II, VCLA and RVE state exams.

Another way I demonstrate this standard  is through my education. I completed my undergrad at Roanoke College, where I majored in history and minored in elementary school. I continued my education at Hollins University. In May of 2018 I will graduate from Hollins with my teaching license and masters in early education. Throughout my educational journey I had the privilege to take multiple courses that prepared me to confidently step into the classroom. Below are my transcripts from both Roanoke College and Hollins University.

Hollins University Transcript

During my time at Hollins University I  had the privilege of two teaching experiences. I completed an internship at East Salem Elementary School and worked with a third grade teacher. Then, I completed student teaching at Penn Forest Elementary School and worked along side a first grade teacher. I enjoyed working with multiple grade levels and experiencing different teaching styles. I witness the difference in school districts and grade levels.  I learned a lot from both of my experiences and it helped solidify my teaching philosophy.
